Jan 2016 snowAfter twelve hours, the snow is still falling but now the winds have picked up. The power of nature screams through the cracks and crevices of my roof and blows the icy snow sideways.

It's kind of scary out there. Glad I'm not in the middle of it.

Brave, or maybe just stupid, people walk backwards in the middle of the street. The sidewalks aren’t shoveled and the frozen rain cuts their faces. So they make their way by looking where they’ve already been, slipping and sliding through the calf-high snow. I hope their reason for being out there is worth the risk they are taking.

Snowpocalypse 2016, so far, has not been a disappointment.

The high-pitched squeal of the wind and rattling windows woke me early, feeling grateful the power was still on and the heat still functioned. Both cats were much slower to rise than usual and complained when I pushed them out of the warmth we’d made. After breakfast while watching some saved programs on the DVR, I decided there was only one thing to do on a day like this.

Write.

I’d better get to it.
