M.L. Doyle has served in the U.S. Army at home and abroad for more than three decades as both a soldier and civilian. She calls on those experiences in her award-winning Master Sergeant Harper mystery series, her Desert Goddess urban fantasy series, erotic romance writing, and co-authored memoirs, which all feature women who wear combat boots.

M. L. Doyle calls on her years of serving as an Army Reservist to write about women in combat boots. Mary has written a three-book mystery series, two books of a planned three-book urban fantasy series and a four-novella erotic romance series. She co-authored the memoirs of two brave soldiers to ensure their stories keep their proper place in history. Her work with Spec. (Ret) Shoshana Johnson, an African- American POW of the Iraq War, won a nomination for an NAACP Image Award. She also co-authored with Brig. Gen (Ret.) Julia Cleckley the story of her rise through Army ranks from humble beginnings and despite great personal tragedy.

Mary’s essays, reviews and interviews have appeared in The War Horse, The Wrath- Bearing Tree, The Goodman project and O-Dark Thirty.

M. L. Doyle aimed to prove her brother wrong when she joined the Army on his dare. Almost two decades later, she not only confirmed that she could, contrary to his warning, make it through basic training, her combat boots took her to the butt-end of nowhere and back countless times and she lived to tell about it … or write about it as it turned out.

Her upcoming release is (summer 2019), The Bonding Blade is the second book in The Desert Goddess urban fantasy series. The first book, The Bonding Spell was released in 2015.

Unafraid of genre jumping, Mary has co-authored two memoirs including Shoshana Johnson’s I’m Still Standing, From Captured Soldier to Free Citizen; My Journey Home. She has also penned the three-book Master Sergeant Harper mystery series, and a four-novella Limited Partnerships, erotic romance series. Her essays, reviews and interviews have appeared in The War Horse, The Wrath-Bearing Tree, The Goodman project and O'Dark Thirty.

M. L. Doyle has served in the U.S. Army at home and abroad for more than two decades as both a soldier and civilian. Mary’s mystery series features Master Sergeant Lauren Harper, an Army public affairs specialist who travels the world on Army business only to find herself embroiled in one dangerous situation after another. The first book of the series, The Peacekeeper’s Photograph (Vine Hill Road Press, 2013) takes place on a small Army outpost during the Bosnia peacekeeping mission. The Peacekeeper’s Photograph was the winner of the Carey McCray Memorial Literary Award for best novel from the South Carolina Writer’s Workshop and won a Bronze medal in the Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY) for mystery in 2014. Mary has published two additional books in the mystery series, The Sapper’s Plot and The General’s Ambition.

Mary’s four novella erotic romance series is titled Limited Partnerships, (Vine Hill Road Press, 2013). The series, about a woman-owned male escort service is a collection of stories featuring different men working in the establishment, Charlie I, Luke II, Wolf III and Derek IV are also published in an omnibus version.

The first book in Mary’s urban fantasy series, The Bonding Spell, (Vine Hill Road Press, 2015), tells the tale of a US soldier who, while on duty in Iraq, picks up a gold coin in the desert. A small action that results in life-changing consequences. The second book in the series, The Bonding Blade, is set for publication in June of 2019.

Mary is the co-author of the book, I’m Still Standing, From Captured Soldier to Free Citizen- My Journey Home, (Touchstone, 2010) which chronicles the story of Shoshana Johnson, a member of the 507th Maintenance Company who was captured during an ambush and held prisoner in the early days of the Iraq War. The book was nominated for an NAACP Image Award in the literary category for best Auto/biography. Mary also co-authored the book; Promises Fulfilled, My Life as a Wife and Mother, Soldier and General Officer (Cleckley Enterprises, 2013), with Brigadier General (Ret.) Julia Jeter Cleckley.

Mary is an editor for The Wrath-Bearing Tree, a literary magazine established and maintained by veterans. (www.wrathbearingtree.com). She is also contributes as a producer of The WBT podcast.

Mary is on the Advisory Council for the MilSpeak Foundation Inc., a 501(c)3 public charitable organization that supports, promotes and celebrates the creative arts of military servicemembers, veterans, families and caregivers. She is also a guest presenter at MilSpeak On Point Seminars and Workshops.

Mary was a War Horse.org fellow during their summer 2018 workshop. Her essays have appeared in The War Horse, The Good Man Project and O’Dark Thirty. Mary has a bachelor of Arts in broadcast communications from Metropolitan State University and a Master of Arts from the University of Oklahoma in International Relations.

She is a Minneapolis native, currently lives in Columbia, Maryland and is a civilian employee of the Army at Fort Meade, Maryland.
